INTRODUCTION

The Board of Trustees of the Mount Vernon City School District is in the process of selecting a permanent superintendent. As you may know, in July 2012, the trustees appointed Judith Johnson as Interim Superintendent for a year or until a permanent superintendent can be appointed. Now is the time to develop a process by which a search can be designed and implemented for the purpose of finding a permanent superintendent. Before we begin, we are seeking input from the public to hear their opinions on how the Trustees might best proceed with the search.

* 1. The Trustees of the Mount Vernon City School District are entrusted with the hiring of the next Superintendent of Schools. The Trustees are seeking the opinion of each and every stakeholder as to the most appropriate method by which it should conduct the search. First read the entirety of each of the four options below along the left hand side of the page; and then check the appropriate "circle" beneath ratings of "Most Preferred" "More Preferred" "Less Preferred" or "Least Preferred" that best identifies your judgment of each option.

OPTION 3: BRING TOGETHER A TRUSTEE CHAIRED "SEARCH COMMITTEE" CONSISTING OF STAKEHOLDERS FROM AROUND THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON TO CONDUCT THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT SUPERINTENDENT WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT OF THE MOUNT VERNON CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN ORDER TO SUBMIT THREE TO SIX QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR CONSIDERATION WHO WILL REVIEW AND DETERMINE THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE .
