Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (sections 59 to 75)

Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) - public consultation

Wimbledon Park and Waverley Gardens
Introduction
PSPOs are powers given to local authorities when they are satisfied on reasonable grounds that within the Restricted Areas defined, activities have taken place which have had a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the locality, and that such activities are (i) persistent or continuing in nature, (ii) unreasonable, and (iii) justify the restrictions imposed by this Order as per section 59(2)(a) of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

If made, the PSPO would last for up to three years, after which it would expire unless the Council decides to extend it following further review and consultation.

The Council is seeking your views on introducing a PSPO to help reduce anti‑social behaviour in Wimbledon Park and Waverley Gardens. Your feedback will help to inform decision making. The survey will close on Sunday 21st June 2026.

If a PSPO is made, an interested person may apply to the High Court within six weeks of the date on which the PSPO is made, to question the validity of the Order on certain grounds in accordance with section 66 of the Anti‑social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
