Youth Academy Application

The Hayward Police Department’s Youth Academy is a week-long program offered each summer.

This unique opportunity provides students with a greater understanding of the inner workings of the Hayward Police Department, as well as current policies and procedures, as taught by the law enforcement professionals themselves.

The main purpose of this program is for our students to leave educated in their integral roles as community members while strengthening their relationship with the police.

Open to students grades 8th-12th. Students entering the 8th grade for the 2024-2025 school year are welcome.

Applications are due by Friday, June 17, 2024

Class locations will be held at both the Hayward Main Library and the Hayward Airport Hangar.

• Forensics/Crime Scene
• Investigations
• VICE/Intelligence
• Traffic Enforcement
• Gangs & Graffiti
• SWAT/K9 Demo
• Crisis Negotiation/De-Escalation
• Bomb Squad demo
• Cyberbullying/Social Media
• Healthy dating/Domestic Violence
