Excuses, Excuses?

As you help plan sponsors and participants make good choices, from time to time you probably encounter all kinds of rational, reasonable objections to the counsel you offer on such matters – as well the occasional irrational, unreasonable kind. What some might even consider an excuse, rather than a reason. It might be a reluctance to embrace automatic enrollment, resistance to limit the number of participant loans, to remove a poorly performing fund from the plan menu, or even the reason(s) proffered for a hardship withdrawal.

This week, I’d like to ask you to share some of your “favorite” excuses, either offered to you, or to others of your acquaintance.
