Welcome to My Survey

This consultation aims to define a list of measurement challenges faced by the electrification of vehicles and aircraft, and to identify their relative importance to UK supply chains. This list will form the core of a report which will be used by NPL and other bodies to influence strategic priorities.

On the basis of a workshop held at NPL on 4 September 2018, in-depth interviews and desk-based research, we have produced a draft list on challenges. We want to validate and improve this list by seeking feedback from as many stakeholders as possible. Please help us by answering this short survey by 18 February 2019.

The following questions show the list of measurement challenges broken down into four themes: Design and modelling, Materials, Manufacture, and In-service and end-of-life. More detail on each of these challenges can be found in the accompanying consultation document here.

Question Title

* 1. Prioritisation of challenges: Do you agree with the prioritisation assigned to each of these challenges? If not, select which should be assigned a higher or lower priority:

  Lower Same Higher
Design for whole service-life performance: implementation of ageing models.
Modelling the influence of manufacture processes on material properties: Specimen, prototype and production versions of materials have different properties.
Close the loop on modelling: Understand differences between modelled behaviour and actual behaviour.
Material databases: Improving availability of materials characterisation data.
Data on material variability and aging curves.
Validation of models for different components. Improving confidence in decision making.
Data collection strategies for digital twins. Knowing what to measure in order to create a useful digital twin.
