Under the EU’s Global Gateway framework, EFSD+ guarantees have been designed to help companies and financiers unlock investment by reducing risk and improving financing terms. By supporting loans, equity, and other financial products provided by European and regional financial institutions, EFSD+ can enable longer tenors, better pricing, and greater risk appetite — making otherwise challenging projects bankable. Guarantees can be combined with blending and technical assistance to support projects through to financial close.

The Global Gateway Investment (GGI) Roadshow in Kigali is a targeted, deal-focused engagement for companies with concrete investment interests in Rwanda. Its purpose is to identify viable projects . which can be at concept, early development, or advanced stage, and explore how they could be supported through EU and partner financing instruments.

The Roadshow will include a preparatory webinar, followed by a two-day in-person event on 12-13 May 2026, combining focused roundtable discussions and tailored matchmaking sessions. Companies will have the opportunity to present projects, identify partners, and engage directly with financiers, DFIs, and key public counterparts.

A specific emphasis will be on climate-smart agriculture and related value chains, conservation and tourism, health and pharmaceuticals, smart cities, digitalisation, energy and critical raw materials. Building on previous EU–Rwanda investment exchanges, the Roadshow aims to help move promising projects toward implementation by aligning them with appropriate risk-sharing and financing solutions.
