Security Enhancement Grant

Application for 2025-26 Fiscal Year

To assist members with addressing security and workplace violence concerns, CIS is offering a total of $25,000 in Security Enhancement Grants to our members. This includes the cost of equipment and the installation of the equipment by an outside contractor. We will not pay for an employer’s staff person to install the equipment.

Grants will be awarded based on both financial need and current security concerns. Applications will be accepted now through Oct. 31. Applicants will be notified of their status by Nov. 26.

Some examples of items considered are:

Access Control: Implementing key cards, biometric scanners, or mobile device recognition for entry into buildings.
Alarm Systems: Utilizing motion sensors or intruder alarms to detect and deter unauthorized entry into buildings.
Panic Buttons: Installation of panic buttons at employee workstations that are tied to emergency services.
Intercom Systems: Installation of intercom systems at entrances near reception to verify visitors’ identities before granting access or used for communication during active shooter or other emergencies.
Visitor Management: Method for screening visitors in restricted staff areas and tracking mechanism for their entry and exit from the building.
Physical Barriers: Implementing measures such as bollards in front of buildings, high counters with bullet-proof glass or security doors that restrict unauthorized access to sensitive or restricted areas.
Lighting: Increasing lighting inside and outside in parking areas or areas where employees travel during dark hours.
Safe Rooms: Creation of safe rooms that are secured where employees can stay protected and safe during emergencies or active threats.
Emergency Communication Systems: A mass notification system, either through email or text messages, which notifies all employees at once of a security or emergency issue.

GRANT CRITERIA
The Security Camera Risk Management Grant is for CIS members with Property/Liability (P/L) coverage. Each grant will be capped at $5,000 per member. Applications will be based on financial need as well as current security concerns.

Grant Requirements

All CIS grants require pre-approval by the Risk Management Director or his/her
designee.
CIS grants are reimbursement grants only.
CIS grants are for the fiscal year being submitted.

Once the grant application is received and reviewed, you will receive an email notification providing either the approval or the reason for the denial of the requested grant.

REIMBURSEMENT REQUIREMENTS
If approved, CIS will need the following to process the reimbursement. Required documentation must be submitted by May 15 to receive reimbursement. Grant monies will be forfeited if all the reimbursement information is not submitted by May 15, 2026.

Copy of the grant approval
Copy of the invoice(s) from vendor to CIS member (not a purchase order or quote).
Copy of the payment from member to vendor or company (must be a copy of the actual signed check or credit card statement).

Please note that CIS has limited grant funds and we may not be able to award the total amount requested.

Once the grant application is received and reviewed, you will receive an email notification providing either the approval or the reason for the denial of the requested grant.

If approved for a grant and you determine you will not be able to use the awarded grant funds in FY 2025-26, you agree to contact CIS as soon as possible so the funds can be awarded to the next qualifying member. Failure to notify us may impact your potential for future awarded grant funds.
