Your feedback about our Bay of Plenty workforce and skills needs, now and into the future
Defining our labour market aspirations...
The Bay of Plenty Regional Skills Leadership Group are tasked with preparing a Regional Workforce Plan (RWP) by June 2022. The RWP will define the current and future labour market challenges in our region, and articulate a number of actions to create improved outcomes for our industries, businesses, residents and communities. The RWP will consider both the supply (people) and demand (business/industry) sides of the labour market, and may include actions that address employment, training and education, and immigration settings.
The first step in developing the plan is to define our aspirations. To do this, our Group has considered the key labour market challenges (‘what is the problem we are trying to solve’) and the many existing interventions and actions (‘what is already underway’). We acknowledge that the issues and opportunities we are trying to address for our region are vast, and that this is not an exhaustive list. However, our Group wish to focus on five key areas where we think we can have the most positive impact.
You can read more about these aspiration statements and what they mean for your community in the background paper provided. We welcome your thoughts and feedback on these draft aspiration statements and note that this feedback opportunity is not formal consultation on the Bay of Plenty Regional Workforce Plan. This is purely an opportunity for your views and perspectives to be included in the early development phase of our Regional Workforce Plan. We will use your feedback to further refine our focus areas to ensure we're meeting the workforce needs for the Bay of Plenty.
