* 1. Title: The CEFR: a resource for language programs in Australia?

This information sheet is for you to keep.
My name is Nadine Normand-Marconnet and I am a lecturer in the Department of French Studies (Faculty of Arts) at Monash University.

You are invited to take part in this study. Please read this Explanatory Statement in full before making a decision.

Why were you chosen for this research?
I am looking for staff and student volunteer to participate in online survey and focus group in order to give their opinion about the implementation and the adaptation of the Common European Framework of Languages in the Australian context.

The aim/purpose of the research
The aim of this research project is to address questions related to the adaptation of an international resource to the Australian context in the field of teaching, learning and assessment in foreign languages.

Possible benefits
The study will analyse the perception of Australian students and staff about the CEFR. There will be no direct benefits for people who take part in this study. However, according to the results, proposal will be made to better integrate the CEFR into the universities curriculum, and therefore, promote multilingualism in Australia

What does the research involve?
The study involves online surveys and focus groups.

How much time will the research take?
The study involves you filling out a short, completely anonymous online questionnaire and the attendance of focus group for volunteer.

The questionnaire should not take more than 15 minutes to complete, and one hour attendance for focus group will be the maximum time allocated.

Participation in this project should not cause any discomfort beyond the lost of a small amount of your time.

No payment will be offered to the participants.

You can withdraw from the research
Being in this study is voluntary and you are under no obligation to consent to participation.
However, if you do consent to participate, you cannot withdraw after submitting your questionnaire, as it will be collected anonymously and because it will not be possible to withdraw data once they have submitted online.
As the questionnaires are anonymous, there is little risk that your identity will become known in journal articles, conference papers, or other publications resulting from the project, but should any names be mentioned in comments, these will be replaced by pseudonyms.

Storage of data
Data collected will be stored in accordance with Monash University regulations, kept on University premises, in a locked filing cabinet for 5 years. A report of the study may be submitted for publication, but individual participants will not be identifiable in such a report.
