Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is currently looking for volunteers to assist people with disability with their daily work schedule of administrative tasks at the Wesley Mission Queensland reception, situated in our Corporate Office at Chermside.

Playing an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, our Disability Employment Program Volunteers will provide complimentary assistance by developing workplace mentor relationships with participants who are supported by WMQ’s Disability Employment Program and openly employed within our organisation. Through their workplace mentoring, Disability Employment Program Volunteers ensure participants are actively involved in maintaining service delivery within a supportive and inclusive workplace.

Volunteer times are available Wednesday and Friday, 9am to 1pm.

As part of their role Disability Employment Program Volunteers will be involved in:
  • Forming meaningful appropriate supportive workplace mentor relationships with participants
  • Supporting participants through each day with hands-on work
  • Encouraging participants to develop confidence, competence, and independence with their daily routine
  • Liaising with the participants' Workplace Supervisor.
The type of jobs volunteers assist participants with include:
  • Mail sorting into pigeon holes
  • Greeting visitors
  • Photocopying
  • Scanning
  • Delivering mail to Residential Aged Care Homes on campus
  • Replenishing consumables
  • Keeping work area and kitchen tidy
  • COVID Cleaning frequently touch points in the office
  • Other reception duties as required.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities is not required for this position; nevertheless, patience, compassion, clear communication, and the ability to adhere to a schedule in a busy administrative setting are highly preferred.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received their COVID-19 vaccinations before they are registered in their role.

Volunteer shifts are available Wednesday and Friday 9am to 1pm.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance check prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
