The aim of the event is to demonstrate to the new Prime Minister and his administration the weight of support for the countryside and the unity of rural interests in the face of escalating political threats. There is no doubt that the rural community feels increasingly under attack: the family farm tax, affordability checks on horse racing betting, outright bans on greyhound racing in Wales and Scotland, the proposed licensing of game shooting and the proposed ban on trail hunting.
