Eastpointe Community Schools Community Survey

Eastpointe Community Schools is beginning an important conversation about the future of our school district facilities. Three years ago, the school district partnered with a national firm to study building usage and long‑term needs. The findings showed that we are operating more buildings than we can efficiently support, a challenge that reflects declining enrollment across Michigan.

In June 2024, the Board of Education adopted a facilities plan to address these findings. The plan includes closing Eastpointe Middle School and creating a unified 6 through 12 campus at Eastpointe High School. To make this possible, the nearly 100‑year‑old high school would need significant updates. The administrative offices would also move into the high school. In addition, the school district would expand Pre‑K options to attract families, which would require improvements to the Early Learning Center.

These updates would require approximately $107 million in improvements. This would result in a 5 mill increase, or about $300 per year for the average Eastpointe Community Schools homeowner.
