The Clean Energy Council (CEC), the Australian Power Institute (API) and the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) are committed to the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity. Through collaboration with respective members, we seek to cultivate workplaces and an industry that are respectful of and value a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and talents. We want to achieve a level of diversity in the clean energy workforce that reflects our consumers and the communities in which we operate. We want a culture where everyone can feel empowered to bring their own true self to work.

As a first step, we need to ascertain the demographic diversity of the Australian renewable energy workforce to set as a baseline for improvement. Surveying the clean energy workforce industry-wide will allow the CEC, API and ETU and its members to identify where systematic barriers and inequities may exist within policies and processes, and pinpoint areas that need improvement. This why we are asking you to self-identify details such as your cultural background and age. This is for individuals, not organisations, and is voluntary, strictly confidential and anonymous.

In preparing this survey, we sought to strike a balance between capturing the richness and complexity of our workforce while keeping the questions short and limited in number. If, as a result, we may not have included every potential option or accurately described each person’s traits, we apologise and offer the ‘prefer not to say’ response option.

The information from this survey will only be used in aggregated formats to understand the clean energy workforce and design initiatives to boost inclusiveness.
