Research Consent Disclaimer

You are invited to participate in a research study under the direction of Dr. Annamaria Lusardi, Academic Director of the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center at the George Washington University (GWU). Taking part in this research is entirely voluntary. You can choose to opt out at any time.

For people to fully participate in today's society, they need to be financially literate. Many young Americans are making financial decisions with lifelong consequences as early as high school, yet American students perform below the international average in financial literacy. Moreover, the data show that students’ financial literacy levels largely depend on the instructional methods used by their teachers, yet over half of teachers in the US reported that they do not feel adequately qualified to teach to their state’s financial education standards.

In response to the need for teacher training and instructional resources, Digital Promise has partnered with the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) to develop 20 micro-credentials that recognize 7th-12th grade teachers for competencies in teaching personal finance.  As part of this initiative, GFLEC has launched a study to better understand the needs of financial education teachers.

If you decide to take part in this study, you will proceed to an online survey that will take about 20 minutes to complete before being prompted to submit your evidence for this micro-credential.

For your privacy, your responses will be accessible only to researchers. Any identifiable data will be deleted.

Your participation will help us better serve educators who teach personal finance topics, enabling us to present you and teachers like you with deeper professional development opportunities.

Your responses to this survey will not affect your micro-credential application in any way.
