The African Geodetic Reference Frame (AFREF) is a geodetic reference system specifically developed for the continent of Africa. The main objective of AFREF is to unify the many coordinate systems into one robust reference frame that will be accurate and consistent with the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). The development of AFREF is intended support a wide range of applications including surveying, land management, infrastructure development, resource monitoring, disaster management, and scientific research, providing an enabling environment for cross-border sustainable development.
