Thank you for your interest in registering as a volunteer Community Visitor with Wesley Mission Queensland.  This role is situated in the Taigum area.

The Group61 Community Visitor program aims to enrich the quality of life of isolated older people living in their own homes who may be socially isolated or lonely - whether for social or cultural reasons or due to disability.

As part of our Community Visitor program, we are looking for friendly people who are looking to make a difference in the lives of our community’s seniors just by spending an hour per week or fortnight visiting and being a social friend to individuals living in their own homes. Due to the nature of the role we ask for a commitment of six months.

In the role of Community Visitor, you will assist in ensuring older people in their own homes remain actively engaged and inspired every day. Quality time shared can include chatting, playing cards or board games, work on a hobby together, or discuss the local news. You might take a walk, grab a coffee, or do some gardening together.

Community Visitors are not involved in providing clinical or personal care to the people they visit.

Group61 is a welcoming and rewarding place to volunteer where you will meet many wonderful people and learn great new skills that may assist you both personally and professionally. There are lots of other benefits to volunteering with us as well, such as:

  • Supply and pay for any security checks required for the position
