Wesley Mission Queensland’s Hadden Place at Sinnamon Park is looking for people interested in helping out with dementia-friendly activities with our clients, preparing and serving refreshments and morning tea, and driving clients to and from their residences to the centre or on scheduled outings in company fleet vehicles.   

Shifts are available Monday to Friday, morning (9am till 1pm), afternoon (1pm till 4:30pm), or a full day (9am till 4:30pm).

About Hadden Place
Wesley Mission Queensland’s Dementia Specific Day Respite Centre assists people living with dementia to take a break from their regular environment, meet new people and have a fun and rewarding experience while still having their care needs met.


Hadden Place also provides:
  • Individual care and support for people living with dementia
  • Transport services
  • Morning and afternoon tea, and a two-course lunch
  • General outings on a regular basis.

About the Hadden Place Volunteer Role

As part of our program you will be assisting our clients on their lifelong learning path by:
  • Listening to their stories
  • Discovering their passions and interests
  • Uncovering their skills
  • Report any feedback or requests to the workplace supervisor
  • Ensuring positive interactions with clients so they can maintain an enriched lifestyle.
Depending on your interests and skills, you may be involved in one or more programs in the centre, including:
  • Table games with clients, including bingo, puzzles, scrabble, and domino’s
  • Craft activities
  • One-on-one reading to clients
  • Social groups, chats in small groups
  • Assisting with preparing, serving, and clearing morning tea
  • Simple exercises
  • Driving clients on outings or to and from their residences to the centre in company fleet vehicles  
  • Other special skills you would like to share.

The volunteer role suits people with well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm, caring, and empathetic manner. It’s a great way to make a difference in the lives of our clients while making friends, having fun, and learning new skills.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof that they have received their COVID-19 vaccinations before they are registered in their role.


Volunteers must also have a current NDIS Workers Screening check on file before commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
