About the Project

MnDOT partnered with the City of Pelican Rapids for a complete streets reconstruction project on Highway 59 and Highway 108 in Pelican Rapids. Construction of the $22.8 million project started in April 2024, and was completed in stages over two construction seasons, wrapping up in November 2025.

The completed work included:
  • Reconstructing and resurfacing Highway 59 and Highway 108 in the city of Pelican Rapids
  • Replacing more than 20 blocks of city utilities
  • Constructing roundabouts at the two junctions of Highway 59 and Highway 108
  • Realigning the intersection at Highway 59 and County Road 9
  • Installing new sidewalks and shared-use path
