MRI (November 2023)

In 2020, IAC revised the requirements for the annual quality control assessment of the MRI scanner. The requirements include:
  • Physical/visual inspection of each coil used clinically
  • Radiofrequency (RF) transmitter gain/attenuator verification of each coil used clinically
  • Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) evaluation of each coil used clinically
  • Image intensity uniformity assessment (applicable to volume coils only/if present at the facility)
  • Artifact assessment for each coil used clinically
  • Magnetic field homogeneity
  • Slice thickness accuracy
  • Slice position accuracy
  • High Contrast Spatial Resolution
  • System artifact
  • Low contrast detectability / contrast-to-noise-ratio
  • General equipment (e.g., RF coil cables and connectors, RF shielding, scan table manipulation, etc.)
