Invitation and Participant Information

You are invited as a volunteer to complete this research survey exploring the Australian inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) population regarding perspectives on their health status, management options and participation in physical activity.

Participation criteria:
To complete the survey, participants must
- have a formal, medical diagnosis of Crohn’s disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC).
- be receiving healthcare in Australia.
- be aged 18 years or above.

Purpose of the study:
-  Firstly, the study aims to investigate the reported quality of life of Australians with IBD and the factors which contribute to their health-status.
-  Secondly, to evaluate the effectiveness of management strategies provided in Australia by the viewpoint of those living with IBD.
-  Thirdly, the study aims to explore the perspectives on exercise and physical activity from the Australian IBD population and to identify the level of physical activity in which they engage.

The survey will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes to complete. There is a mixture of closed and open questions.  The survey will begin with a disease activity questionnaire, followed by questions to gather demographic and health status information, then questions on perspectives of management strategies and physical activity.  

The survey responses are strictly anonymous and responses are unidentifiable.  Once submitted responses cannot be withdrawn. It would not be possible to divulge a participant's identify or breach their confidentiality, even if compelled by law.

The responses will be analysed with the intention to be used towards manuscript publications.  If you would like information regarding the project outcomes, please contact the chief investigator Kelly Baker via email:
