Following extensive community engagement and government partner coordination, the Central Florida Expressway Authority on December 11, 2025, approved the Preferred Alternative for the Southport Connector Expressway Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. CFX is looking at ways to make the project financially viable so it can move forward to design and construction. The agency continues to work with Osceola and Polk Counties to address traffic congestion related to continuing growth – particularly in the Poinciana community.
