This October, a unique opportunity arises to volunteer in a project that will contribute hugely to continue to operate Hummingbird House as a free service for families that need us. Hummingbird House will be implementing an exciting and innovative Giving Day!

About Hummingbird House
Over 5,000 Queensland families are living with, loving, and caring for a child with a life limiting-condition. Sadly, this means that their child is not expected to reach 18 years of age. With Hummingbird House being Queensland’s only children’s hospice, and one of only three children’s hospices in Australia, we provide a warm and welcoming medically supported home away from home for these families, which can encompass short break stays, family support services, creative and physical therapies, and when the time comes - end of life and after death care.

What is a giving day?
Giving Days are online fundraising challenges that aim to rally groups of people around a cause. Our aim for our very first giving day is to raise $250K in 12 hours. We will be doing this through matched gifts, an online campaign, and donor phone calls on the day.

We need you!
The success of this campaign depends on passionate volunteers like you. We need as many volunteers as possible to join our ‘Operations Room’ to reach out to the community with phone calls explaining the importance of Hummingbird House and why they should contribute to the Giving Day. We also need people to help us share the word on social media.

Every little bit will count on this day alone, as each donation is effectively doubled. That’s why we need you; you will be essential in ensuring this Giving Day succeeds.

The Operations Room will be a vibrant hub of activity as teams of passionate volunteers share in the success of the Giving Day and make a pivotal impact on the organisation we all care so much about! Shifts are for four hours and all workspaces follow a COVID-19 safe work plan. As a volunteer, you will be provided with a call script and a list of our current donors to call, to ask if they would like to contribute to our first Giving Day. We will be providing everyone with a quick fact sheet for questions you may be asked on the day. Hummingbird House staff will be available all throughout the day should you have questions, need assistance or have any technical issues.

LET'S SHOW HUMMINGBIRD HOUSE FAMILIES THAT WE CARE, AND THEY ARE NOT ALONE.
