Pastoral Research Self-Evaluation Survey

* 1. INFORMED CONSENT

Your formal consent is required in order to participate in a research study conducted by Veronica Abney, at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois. The study is entitled 21st Century Church Leadership and Pastor Preparation. The purpose of the study is to examine the academic completion levels of pastors that participated in the 2014-2015 Outreach Magazine/Lifeway research study were more academically prepared in ministry effectiveness than pastors who did not complete any academic or seminary institution.

With your consent, you will complete a questionnaire that should take approximately 15 minutes. You will not receive a copy of your answers to this questionnaire.

Your participation is voluntary, and you may discontinue your participation at any time without penalty. Your identity will be confidential by the researcher and will remain unidentified to the data. Only the researcher will have access to all records. Your participation in this study does not involve any physical or emotional risk to you beyond that of responding to academic questions regarding your academic and ministry experience.

While you are likely not to benefit directly from being in this research study, the 21st-century pastor preparation study will assist post-seminary students, executive pastors, seminary institutions, pulpit committees, local churches, prospective clergy leaders, ministerial staff, and lay leaders in improving critical areas of clergy recruitment and 21st-century church leadership development. Taking part in this study may contribute to the general body of research on the topic.

The results of this study may be published or reported to educational institutions, your identity will remain confidential.
