Overview

The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) invites organizations to apply to become an AmeriCorps VISTA program host site as part of its community resilience work. VISTA members serve directly with organizations to empower and advocate for communities to have equality, justice, a sustainable environment, good health, and success in school and/or work with the goal of reducing poverty.
 
VISTA Member Activities - Service
  • VISTA service may be in-person, remote, or hybrid
  • Service can address one or more focus areas: education, health, economic opportunity, disaster preparedness and response, environmental stewardship, veteran support, equity- justice
  • VISTA members may not provide direct service ex tutoring or clearing park trails
  • VISTA members may not displace or supplant paid staff members
  • Service can expand the scale, impact, and resource leveraging ability of organizations
  • Members can increase partnerships and secure short- and long-term resources
 
Application Process
  • Review the MCSC AmeriCorps Application Overview by visiting the MCSC website.
  • Complete the application questions listed below
  • Application criteria includes geographic representation, strength of program seeking to make meaningful impact, and emphasis on one of the core focus areas
  • Selected host sites will be asked to provide a more detailed position description and recruitment plan
 
Deadline
  • Applications will be reviewed starting Aug. 15.
  • The review process will continue until all positions are filled.
