Siloed Skills: The #1 Obstacle to the Future-Ready Workforce
This is a study that will be conducted via a survey delivered by Brandon Hall Group™ to assess the state of skills in 2026.
The main question: Do organizations know what skills they have, what skills they need, and who's responsible for closing skill gaps?
There is a critical gap in the way organizations approach learning. A lack of role-specific content is leaving employees underprepared and increasingly vulnerable to the demands of a rapidly changing workplace.
The culprit? Missing skills data. Without it, learning cannot be specifically and effectively personalized.
But the missing skills data is a symptom of a larger problem. At the root of the problem is a governance crisis. L&D and HR are misaligned on skills strategy.
That misalignment is costing the workforce its future.
This study examines the full lifecycle of a skills strategy: Who owns it, how it's built, what data powers it and where it breaks down. We look at the collaboration gaps between HR and L&D, the tools organizations rely on (and their limitations), the skill gaps leaders are losing sleep over and the single biggest barriers standing between where organizations are today, and where they need to be.
Thank you for taking this survey.
