Are you someone who knows the positive power of engaging with people who have dementia? We’re looking for special volunteer visitors with an insight into the way aged care residents living with dementia see and experience the world around them. 

This is an opportunity to enhance self-esteem through conversation, garden walks, or co-creative activities under the guidance of our specialist staff.

Surrounded by shady Moreton Bay figs, Bethesda in beautiful Corinda is an aged care community with a proud history of nurturing generations of Queenslanders. Orana Court provides a welcoming environment for people living with dementia, where residents have easy access to a sunny outdoor courtyard overlooking the beautiful gardens. Our dedicated Leisure and Lifestyle staff offer residents a variety of research-based and innovative activities to support memory loss, and are looking for people who are passionate about positive ageing and able to spend meaningful time with residents creating a sense of community, well-being and belonging. 

As part of the Volunteer Visitor role you can assist our residents by:
  • Encouraging independence friendship and fun.
  • Listening to their stories and reminiscing.
  • Providing meaningful and spontaneous activities.
  • Discovering passions and interests.
  • Creating new memories.
  • Networking with staff, families and other volunteers to enhance resident’s well-being.
The role of the Volunteer Visitor is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm, caring and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the lives of our seniors while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteering hours for this role can be made flexible to suit you and your lifestyle commitments .
