Voluntary Demographic Information

Occidental College invites applicants for employment to provide demographic information to assist the College in its efforts to assess and improve its justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity efforts. Submission of this information is voluntary and refusal to provide it will not subject you to any adverse treatment. You may choose to skip any and all questions in this form.

Recognizing that people do not fit neatly into distinct categories, the questions in this form ask for demographic data for various identity categories. The questions are designed to be as inclusive as possible, while maintaining consistency with the demographic categories that the College is required to report to the federal government for employees; we recognize that these categories can be problematic. Most notably, Latino/Latina/Latinx and Hispanic ethnic identities are grouped together in a question separate from other racial and ethnic identities, and Middle Eastern and North African identities are listed under the White racial category.

The information obtained in this form will be maintained separately from your personally identifiable information (PII) and from your application materials. This information will be treated confidentially, with access restricted to appropriate College personnel, and will be used in accordance with applicable laws, executive orders, and regulations. When reported, data will not identify any specific individual. Internal or external reports or analyses that reference or incorporate identity information from this form will be anonymized and aggregated in order to prevent the identification of individuals.
