Incentive – for ex:
- Give free parking lots if the driver has eco-friendly driving style (cf. "eco-driving") or is using low-polluted routes (cf. "eco-routing")
- Give money if the driver is not using his car during high pollution peaks
"PAY AS YOU POLLUTE" for instance:
- Identify vehicle (anytime or only during pollution peaks) with "automatic plate recognition" and make driver pay for its pollutants emissions + make driver pay less if they have installed devices (e.g. dongle) to measure and improve their pollutants emissions
- Raise the toll fee (paid when entering the city center) if the vehicle is categorized in "highly-polluting vehicle" and is above certain emission thresholds
"Pay as you drive" for instance make the driver pay a fee per km driven in city center (and make him pay even higher fee per km when a pollution peak is ongoing)
