Portsmouth Harbour Marine, in collaboration a number of educational and stakeholder partners are asking local marine businesses for input into this important project to understand the skills requirements for the local marine sector in the Portsmouth, Gosport and Fareham areas.

The marine sector is a major local employer and we need to understand better the local skills, training and employment needs and requirements both now and for the coming years. We will use the results of this survey to work with local colleges and educational establishments to develop courses that address these local skills gaps and requirements in order to prepare both the current and next generation for work in the local marine sector. By being informed of the experience and concerns of local marine employers we will be better informed to work to improve the training and skills provision in our area in order to improve the work readiness of local young people undertaking careers in the marine sector.

Portsmouth City Council's research and engagement team are conducting this research on behalf of Portsmouth Harbour Marine. All data collected will be made anonymous and stored in line with Portsmouth City Council's data protection policy notice. The data will not be shared with any third parties.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open until 5:00pm on Friday 27 March 2020.
