The California State Auditor is responsible for conducting audits requested by the Legislature and approved by the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. The Audit Committee approved an audit request regarding oversight of regulatory compliance for pesticide use in California, which gave our office the authority to conduct an audit of the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and County Agriculture Commissioners. As part of this review, the State Auditor requests that you complete this survey so we can obtain your office’s perspective on training, communication with DPR, oversight, appeals, and community outreach. The questions can range from 43 to 68 depending on your responses.
Government Code section 8545.2 gives the State Auditor complete access to all records of state and local governmental agencies, to the same extent that employees of those agencies have access to the records. Additionally, as this is an ongoing audit, your participation in this survey is confidential until we release the report to the public. (Gov. Code, §§ 8545-8545.1). Please be aware that all survey responses are encrypted to safeguard the information you provide. In addition, any final reports or letters to the Legislature and Governor will not identify survey respondents by name.
Finally, we ask that you submit the completed survey to us by close of business on September 15, 2026. We will send periodic reminders of the due date.
