Capital Bikeshare is a city-owned transportation network and an easy, affordable, and fun way to explore Alexandria and the greater DC area. It is a docked system with pedal and e-bikes available for public use. Riders may utilize an annual pass, daily pass, or pay per ride options. Currently, there are 62 stations in Alexandria.

The City has received requests from several residents for a Capital Bikeshare station in Potomac Greens. A bikeshare station would provide a new recreation amenity to the community and convenient way to get to Old Town on busy event days. Additionally, a bikeshare station would provide residents in northeast Alexandria safe and easy access to the Metro system without having to cross Route 1 to get to the Braddock Road Metro station.

The proposed location is on the southbound side of Potomac Greens Dr near the turn onto Carpenter Rd by the Potomac Yard Metro. It would occupy the area currently designated as No Parking for construction work. The station would have 15 docks with a kiosk and be funded entirely with a grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation. The City will manage all maintenance.

Any feedback you'd like to share on this proposal is greatly appreciated.
