3.Mark is having a very hard time supporting his family. He works at the Third National Bank as the night watchman and isn’t making enough money to pay all of his bills. The bank is closed on Shabbos and Sunday. Mark snuck in after closing on Friday and stole one million dollars. He drove Las Vegas and bet the million he stole on black. The wheel was spun, and it landed on… black! Mark now had two million dollars. He drove home and returned the million to the bank. Mark told one of his friends, who told another friend, and soon everyone knew. The President of the bank came over to his house and said “Since you gambled with our money, we get the profit. Give us the second million!” Mark replied, “I stole a million but put it back. What I did with it isn’t your business.” What the solution?(Required.)
4.Debbie was walking around inside the antique store. The sign clearly said, “You break it – you take it!” Debbie reached for a $100,000 vase on the top shelf, when it slipped and fell down. As it was falling, Harry, who was a 95-year-old ex-baseball player, took his cane and managed to smash the vase before it hit the ground. Of course, it shattered. Harry screamed out “Home run!” The owner came running over and said, “You smashed the vase! You owe me $100,000.” Harry said, “No way! Debbie dropped it and I couldn’t have saved it! She owes the money!” What happens?(Required.)
5.While playing football with some friends, Eli accidentally threw the ball too far and it landed over is neighbor’s fence. Mr. Grouchy was, well, grouchy. He had a sign saying, “Private property – do not enter”. They knocked for a few minutes, but no one answered Eli climbed the fence to get the football and was shocked to discover a huge snarling dog. The dog attacked Eli and bit him pretty badly. A crying Eli just made it back over the fence. Eli’s parents are insisting that Mr. Grouchy pay for the doctor bills and give Eli money for his pain. He replied back, “It was my property!” What’s the solution? (Required.)
6.Avigdor is a 55 year-old-man who is married with no children. He is very wealthy and supports his brothers who spend the day learning Torah. One day he hears the wonderful news – his wife is pregnant! He creates a new will that states the following. If his wife gives birth to a boy, his son inherits 2/3 of his properties and his brothers get 1/3. If it’s a girl, his brothers receive 2/3 and his daughter receives 1/3. Sadly, Avigdor gets sick and passes away suddenly. His wife gives birth to…twins! A boy and a girl. What does everyone get?(Required.)
7.Shlomie orders 100 hamburgers from a Kosher Restaurant for a Siyum. However, one of the janitors also ordered a hamburger from McDonalds. The burgers all got mixed up somehow, and there are now 101 hamburgers that look exactly alike. What is the status of the burgers?(Required.)
8.Sholom bought a brand new $75 basketball. During recess time, he wanted to play chess, and Ari asked to borrow the ball. Sholom said Yes. After 15 minutes of playing, Ari wanted to go in, but Dovid wanted to keep playing basketball. Ari said, “Fine, but you have to bring it to Sholom when you’re done.” Dovid took responsibility. When recess ended, Dovid began walking inside, and tried shooting a full court shot. The ball hit the ceiling of the gym and popped. Who is responsible?(Required.)
9.Hadassah was walking out of the kosher supermarket on hot summer day, when she heard a cry. She saw a fancy car with the windows rolled up, and there was a baby inside alone! She quickly took a rock and shattered the window and took the sweating baby out. Minutes later, Miri came running out frantically, and grabbed her baby while thanking Hadassah over and over again. She hadn’t slept the night before, and forgot the baby was in the car. That night, Miri’s husband called up Hadassah and said “You owe me $600 for a new window. You had no right to break it. You could’ve tried other ways to get the door open.” Hadassah was shocked. “I saved your baby’s life! Are you insane?” What’s the deal?(Required.)
10.Yehuda borrowed $500 from Shmuel. One day, they were in a store together when armed robbers burst in. “Everyone put your money on the floor, and you won’t be hurt!” Yehuda turned to Shmuel and gave him $500 in cash and said, “Here’s the money I owe you.” One minute later, Shmuel had to put all of his money including the $500 on the floor so he wouldn’t get hurt. After the robbers left with the money, Shmuel turned to Yehuda and said “That was a rotten trick. You still owe me at least $250 to be fair!” What’s the deal?(Required.)
11.Esther asked her friend Perel to watch her diamond covered watch while she went on a trip. The watch was worth $250,000. A few days later, Perel’s house exploded because a faulty gas oven. Baruch Hashem, no one was hurt, but everything inside was destroyed. Since Perel wasn’t being paid to watch the watch, she didn’t owe Esther anything. However, Esther found out later that Perel’s insurance paid her $250,000 for the watch. She stomped over to Perel and said, “How come you didn’t give me the money?” Perel replied, “I don’t owe you anything! The insurance was what I paid for, and the money belongs to me. I owe you nothing since I wasn’t a paid watcher. What’s the story?(Required.)
12.Yossi was trying to raise money for his Yeshiva. He went to Yankel’s house and wouldn’t stop begging him. Finally, Yankel gave him a check for $5000 because he knew the check would bounce. He only had $2000 in the account. However, Yossi deposited $3000 into Yankel’s account, and then cashed the check for $5000! Yankel was furious and demanded the money back. What happens?(Required.)
13.At recess time, Zevi was eating a bag of Pretzels. Avrohom decided to play a trick on him and jumped in front screaming “BOO!!” Zevi screamed and dropped the pretzels on the floor. Now, he wants Avrohom to pay him for a new bag. What do you think?(Required.)
14.While shopping at a non-Jewish store, the cashier really likes talking to Nechama’s little baby. All of a sudden, the cashier takes a lollypop from the shelve (it’s kosher) and offers it to the baby. Nechama is confused since it belongs to the store and not the Cashier. What happens?(Required.)
