Are you someone who knows the positive power of engaging with people who have dementia? We’re looking for special companions with an insight into the way aged care residents living with dementia see and experience the world around them. 

This is an opportunity to enhance self-esteem through conversation, garden walks, or co-creative activities under the guidance of our specialist staff.

Our Anam Cara Aged Care Community Cottages Clear Mountain and Cashmere features a homelike environment where residents can enjoy a sense of community, well-being and belonging. The cottage is adapted to support 19 residents with memory loss and our dedicated Leisure and Lifestyle staff are looking for people who are passionate about positive ageing and able to spend meaningful time with residents.

As part of the Companion Volunteer role you can assist our residents by:
  • Encouraging independence friendship and fun.
  • Listening to their stories and reminiscing.
  • Providing meaningful and spontaneous activities.
  • Discovering passions and interests.
  • Creating new memories.
  • Networking with staff, families and other volunteers to enhance resident’s well-being.
The role of the Volunteer Visitor is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm, caring and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the lives of our seniors while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteering hours for this role can be made flexible to suit you and your lifestyle commitments .

Anam Cara means ‘Soul Place’ and is an innovative and award winning aged care community. Residents enjoy a resort style community with expansive outdoor gardens, children’s playgrounds and BBQ areas that can be enjoyed by residents, families and friends.
