Address: Cooper House Aged Care Community - 930 Gympie Road, Chermside QLD 4032
Do you love tending to plants and pottering around in the garden?
Our Cooper House aged care community at Chermside is seeking a volunteer with an avid interest in plants and gardening to assist a small number of residents with simple garden activities. These activities include potting new plants, maintaining existing plants, sharing gardening experiences, checking on plants in residents’ rooms, walks in the garden or sharing a cuppa in the garden. This is a volunteer role that encourages socialisation and develops lasting friendships. Also, being out in the garden has many benefits for our elderly folk as it is an enjoyable form of exercise, encourages the use of all motor skills, reduces stress levels, and promotes relaxation and fun.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided and there is no expectation of heavy lifting, raking, or mowing as these tasks are completed by our onsite gardener.
This volunteering role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours for this role are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday. Morning and afternoon shifts are available and flexible to suit.
