Do you enjoy celebrating birthday parties and have free time on a Tuesday afternoon? Yes, well this is the perfect volunteering role for you!

Our John Wesley Gardens aged care community at Geebung is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the resident’s monthly birthday celebration. This event which takes place on the last Tuesday of each month is organised for all residents to come together as a community and join in the celebration of residents who have birthdays occurring in that month. This celebration is an engagement with life and encourages reflection, social connection, a feeling of being loved and cared for and lots of fun and smiles!

Volunteers can assist residents by escorting them to and from the celebration and supporting them while they attend this celebration.

Volunteer hours for this volunteer role are on the last Tuesday of the month from 1pm until 4pm approximately. Lunch is provided from 12 to 12.30 if volunteers would like to eat with the residents in the dining room and there is also a café available and access to tea and coffee facilities.

This volunteering role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
