Location of this volunteering role: Geebung - 19 Halsmere Street, Geebung Qld 4034

Buongiorno! Are you looking to connect to your community and brighten the lives of an older person? Can you speak Italian? By chatting in a preferred language and sharing cultural memories you can bring joy and comfort to our wonderful Italian-speaking Aged Care residents living at Geebung. They would love to recollect their younger years, chat about current events, play games, and take leisurely walks with you. This is an opportunity to enrich their lives and keep them connected to the wider community.

As part of our Companion Volunteer Program, we are looking for friendly people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our elderly residents by spending an hour each week or fortnight visiting and building friendships

In the role of a Companion Volunteer, you will be able to assist in ensuring  residents remain actively engaged and inspired every day. Quality time shared can include having a chat, reading a book, playing cards or board games, working on a hobby together or discussing the local news. You might like to take a walk, dance, sing, grab a cuppa or enjoy some gardening together.

The volunteering hours currently available for this role are Monday to Friday between 9am till 3.30pm. Please still apply if you would like to visit on the weekends as we are currently implementing these hours in our services.

Our aged care communities are places of warmth, smiles and hugs where residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun and friendship. Join our volunteering teams and you will meet so many wonderful people, learn new skills and access other benefits, such as:
