The Recommended Formats Statement identifies sets of technical characteristics, whether that be physical books or digital file formats, specific editions or specific metadata elements, that encourage preservation and long-term access for creative works.

This 2018-2019 edition of the Recommended Formats Statement is the collaborative result of the work of Library of Congress staff and of interested and engaged members of the creative community.

By their joint efforts, care, and the value placed on creative works, they continue to strive for the Statement to remain as useful as possible.

Through your feedback, we can make next year’s edition even better.
