Introduction

Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) is due to publish a new guidance document on religion and belief entitled 'Religion and belief: supporting inclusion of staff and students in Higher Education'. This guidance aims to provide an overview of opportunities to develop inclusive practice throughout the staff and student lifecycles, as well as ensuring supportive environments and facilities.

Prior to releasing this guidance, ECU would like to get a better understanding of how practitioners working in the higher education sector engage with equality issues related to religion and belief across a wide range of institutional functions and responsibilities. This survey will serve as a starting point for ECU to evaluate how its guidance was received by the sector and how it can continue to offer the sector its support.

To achieve this aim, ECU will ask respondents to complete this survey for a second time 6 weeks after the religion and belief guidance has been released. Any personal information provided will be stored separately from the survey responses and used only to contact participants for the second survey. All data will be held confidentially in accordance with the UK’s data protection legislation. At no point will the information you provide be shared in a way that would allow you to be personally identified. Any material published will be anonymised and will never include information in a way that can be used to identify you.

The survey should take roughly 5-10 minutes to complete. The online version has been designed to save your responses as you go. As long as you use the same computer, you can exit and return to the survey at a later time to complete it.
