Project Overview

St George Private Hospital is an existing 276-bed medical obstetrics and advanced surgical hospital, located in Kogarah, in southern Syndey, NSW within the Georges River Local Government Area. The hospital belongs to the Ramsay Health Care Group. The Ramsay Health Care Group is proposing an expansion to the existing facilities which will include the provision of a new Clinical Tower, together with the creation of an Emergency Department on the main campus for the St George Private Hospital and Hogben Street Sites. The St George Private Hospital Expansion Project is anticipated to include the following components:
  • Below ground car parking;
  • Radiation Oncology Centre;
  • Medical Imaging Expansion;
  • Emergency Department
  • Lobby and Drop off Zone;
  • Kitchen, Pharmacy, Pathology, Café and Back of House accommodation;
  • Link connection to Hospital Campus;
  • Hospital administration accommodation;
  • 132 Inpatient rooms; and
  • Shell space for consulting suites.
The project is considered a State Significant Development (SSD) and will require development consent under the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (EP&A Act) and State Environmental Planning Policy 2021.The SSD application process requires Ramsay Health Care to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI). The development assessment is being managed by Akalan Projects Pty Ltd (Akalan Projects), an Australian company headquartered in Sydney that specialises in the delivery of healthcare, medical fit-out and construction projects.
Survey Purpose

Umwelt Australia Pty Ltd (Umwelt) has been engaged by Akalan Projects Pty Ltd and Ramsay Health Care to undertake a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for the Project.
As part of the SIA, we are seeking your feedback on the potential social impacts (positive and negative) in relation to the Project. Your responses will also help us to inform project design and identify appropriate measures to address project impacts and enhance project benefits.

All information and written data will be retained by Umwelt and will be reported in de-identified form in the SIA Report.
