THSNA Travel-To-A-Mentor Award Application

APPLICATION GUIDELINES: 


Applicants will be asked to:
  • Confirm that you are a member of any of the 15 THSNA member organizations.
  • Confirm that you are within 7 years of completion of all formal training; Applicants beyond 7 years are eligible if seeking to learn a new skill.
  • Confirm that you are committed to the field of Hemostasis and/or Thrombosis.
  • Upload an essay outlining the goals and plans for the one-week experience. (PDF or Word doc)
  • Upload a commitment letter from your proposed mentor. (PDF or Word doc)
  • Upload your CV. (PDF or Word doc)
The structure of each one-week experience will be determined jointly by the mentee and mentor, but is expected to include a) clinical and/or laboratory experiences (where applicable), b) attendances at relevant conferences and laboratory or research group meetings, and c) a meeting with the mentor to discuss potential future collaborations (where applicable and where desired), like a review article or development of a multi center clinical trial.

At the time of application, the applicant (mentee) will have pre-arranged to work with a specific mentor in his or her field, or in a complementary field, and that person will have provided a letter agreeing to be mentor for this time period.
AWARD OUTLINE: 

Each THSNA Travel-To-A-Mentor Award (up to $2500 per award) will provide support for one mentee for one week with a pre-selected research mentor at their facility anywhere in the US, Canada, or Mexico, and is anticipated to cover air or land transportation, hotel/housing, meals, and essential incidental expenses.

Awards will fall into the following categories:
  • Nursing
  • Laboratory technologist/specialist
  • Pharmacist
  • PhD researcher
  • Physician investigator, clinical, translational, or basic
  • Patient advocate
