1. Survey Introduction

Dear colleagues,

The Earth Sciences Panel of the European Space Sciences Committee (ESSC) is conducting a survey to assess Copernicus services and products as seen by their users.

The ESSC Earth Science Panel will present an analysis in mid-2022 of the uptake of Copernicus products by various EU stakeholders. In this analysis, we will review potential bottlenecks of data usage, the role of Academia, and possible improvements that would maximize the added value of Copernicus for EU society.

The study is a fully ESSC funded activity and will be performed independently of Copernicus. We will present our outcome to them once the study is completed. Part of the ESSC study is to ask a broad spectrum of users about their experience with Copernicus services.

We, therefore, hope that you will be interested in our initiative and that you will agree to fill in the survey, which should take you a maximum of 15 minutes. Please feel free to also forward it to interested colleagues.

We thank you so much for your help in this matter.

Best regards,

Anny Cazenave, Panel Chair
