The City of Alexandria, in partnership with Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC), is evaluating safety improvements along Dawes Avenue between Seminary Road and King Street. The project responds to concerns raised by NVCC, community members, and recent crash history on the corridor.

This project is part of the Neighborhood Transportation Improvements Program (NTIP), a community-driven program that provides street improvements that make it easier and safer for people to get around in Alexandria. The community may petition the City to address neighborhood transportation issues such as limited crossing opportunities, unsafe vehicle speeds, challenging intersections, and more. Improvements can also advance the City’s adopted Alexandria Mobility Plan and Vision Zero goals.

The goal of this project is to make Dawes Avenue function safely and optimally for people of all ages and abilities. Your feedback is invaluable, and you are encouraged to share your experiences and observations in the project area. For more background on this effort and to access the project materials, please review the information provided on the project website.
