How Would You Close the Coverage Gap?

A significant number of working Americans don’t have access to a retirement plan at work.  And we know that those who do – even at very modest incomes – are significantly more likely to save for retirement when they have that access.  How would you close the coverage gap?

* 1. What reason(s) have you heard plan sponsors give for not offering a workplace retirement plan (check all that apply)?

* 2. What single reason do you think is actually the most responsible for employers not offering a workplace retirement plan?

* 3. Which of the following way(s) could (help) encourage plan formation and close the coverage gap?

* 4. You've been asked to provide a recommendation to Congress as to a viable means of closing the coverage gap - which one will you recommend?

* 5. So, you've been given the power (and the opportunity) to close the retirement plan coverage gap - how would you do it (choose one)?

* 6. Other comments about the coverage gap, the reason(s) given for not offering a workplace retirement plan, the difference that having access to a retirement plan at work makes, the gap between viable and realist, your experiences with getting employers to set up a workplace retirement plan, or life in general?

* 7. What is your role working with retirement plans?

* 8. What size plans do you PRIMARILY work with?

* 9. Suggestions for future survey questions?

* 10. All responses are anonymous and confidential, of course - but if you'd like me to know who you are, or allow for a response, you can leave your email below...
