Welcome to the Office of Inspector General Public Safety Section's Community Survey.

The Public Safety Section of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducts independent, evidence-based evaluations, inspections, and reviews of the operations, programs, policies, and practices of the City’s police and police accountability agencies: the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), and the Chicago Police Board. The Public Safety Section is focused on enhancing the effectiveness of public safety, protecting civil liberties and civil rights, and increasing the public’s confidence in the system.

This brief survey seeks input from Chicago community members regarding your concerns about policing and your priorities for improvement.

You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the survey. Your participation in this survey is voluntary and anonymous. Summary statistics based on responses to this survey will be published in the Public Safety Section’s annual report.
