This is a confidential survey for all people who work in animal-based research or testing in any role where they are in direct contact with animals. Designed to identify conditions that contribute to and possible solutions for workplace stress, this survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

NOTE: It is not mandatory to answer all the questions.

ALN thanks the Enrichment Record and LAWTE for their help in producing this survey on compassion fatigue.*

*Compassion fatigue is a condition characterized by a gradual lessening of compassion over time. It was first diagnosed in nurses in the 1950s. Sufferers can exhibit several symptoms including hopelessness, a decrease in experiences of pleasure, constant stress and anxiety, sleeplessness or nightmares, and a pervasive negative attitude. This precursor to “burn-out” can have detrimental effects on individuals, both professionally and personally, including a decrease in productivity, the inability to focus, and the development of new feelings of incompetency and self-doubt.
