Stop the ocean wind farm project off Warrnambool and Port Fairy |

This petition, of citizens of Southwest Victoria, draws the attention of the House to our strong opposition to the Albanese Labor Government's 1,030-square-kilometre offshore windfarm zone in the Southern Ocean to be located off the coast of Warrnambool and Port Fairy in Victoria.
The petitioners strongly oppose the development of this offshore windfarm and have grave concerns for the pristine coastal and marine environment, local endangered species, the Logans Beach whale nursery and associated migratory whale pathway, and unique marine bird life including migratory birds including the short-tailed shearwaters.
The petitioners below also have grave concerns regarding the adverse impact on the tourism and commercial fishing industry, as well as recreational fishing, coastal and cultural heritage – the unique drawcards to the iconic Great Ocean Road and the region more broadly.
The petitioners oppose this ill-thought-out proposal and request that the Albanese Labor Government take the time to consider the impacts mentioned above and immediately find an alternative location outside the Southern Ocean windfarm zone.
