The Board of Water Supply is committed to providing safe, dependable and affordable water for Oahu's needs today and in the future. SYNOPSIS:
The Navy’s Red Hill fuel facility consists of 20 underground single-walled storage tanks built in the 1940’s that can hold up to 250 million gallons of fuel.  The tanks are located 100 feet above a drinking water resource that serves over 600,000 residents and visitors on Oahu.  Navy records show the tanks have leaked in the past and fuel contamination is being detected in the groundwater and subsurface rocks underneath the tanks.
