The Genetic Science Learning Center at the University of Utah is seeking grade 8-12 Life Science, Biology, Anatomy and Health teachers to participate in a 2.5-day Institute exploring the Science of Addiction and the current opioid crisis.
 
During the Institute you will work collaboratively to:
(a) Learn from scientific experts about recent advances in the science of addiction.
(b) Identify places in your curriculum in which content about addiction (particularly opiates) can be addressed.
(c) Provide ideas for three-dimensional lessons and teacher support materials.


Date:  October 18-20, 2018
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (10/18 and 10/19), 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (10/20)
Location: University of Utah Health Sciences Tower, 515 East 100 South, Salt Lake City

Compensation
For all participants
Stipend: $500
Credit: 1 graduate credit from the University of Utah available for $50
Meals: Continental breakfast and lunch each day
Travel: Mileage reimbursement

Additionally for teachers traveling more than 50 miles to the University of Utah
Lodging: 3 nights in a private hotel room
