In the past 12 months GWMWater has installed new remote reading devices to all rural customers supplied by the Wimmera Mallee and Northern Mallee pipelines, which is providing improved information for on-farm water management.

We are considering extending this technology to urban townships which will provide:
  • Detailed daily water usage information for customers, available on smart phones, tablets and home computers
  • Cost savings through reduced labour and travel to manually read water meters four times each year
  • Positive environmental benefits by reducing carbon emissions from motor vehicle travel

The same radio towers that have been built around the region to transmit rural landholders’ information could be used if we install similar devices to meters in our urban townships.
