Business and Economic Research Limited (BERL) has been commissioned to carry out this research to better understand how organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand experience and manage pay equity. Your responses will contribute to a national evidence base on pay gap reporting, actions taken, and outcomes observed across different industries and business sizes. If you participate, you will receive a summary report to benchmark your organisation against others.
This survey is intended for individuals completing it on behalf of an organisation with employees in Aotearoa New Zealand (excluding sole traders). You should have direct knowledge of your organisation’s payroll and HR practices, and workforce composition. Before you begin, it may be helpful to have on hand some basic information, such as:
- Workforce size and composition, including approximate percentages of female/male, Māori, Pacific, Asian, and part-time employees, as well as ownership and leadership demographics
- Pay practices, including collective agreements, Living Wage status, and whether salary ranges are communicated internally or in job advertisements
- If relevant, any recent pay gap measurement or reporting, including resources used (e.g., staff time, software, consultants), motivations, and observed outcomes or benefits.
If you don’t have exact figures, best estimates are absolutely fine.
Privacy and consentYour participation is voluntary. You may skip any question or exit the survey at any time. Your responses will be kept confidential and used only for research purposes. No individual organisation will be identified in any reporting. Data will be aggregated and anonymised before analysis.
All survey data will be securely stored and accessed only by authorised BERL researchers, and will be retained only as long as necessary for research and reporting purposes, after which it will be securely deleted.
This survey does not collect personal information such as your name or contact details, except if you choose to provide contact details to receive a copy of the summary report. If you provide your contact details for this purpose, they will be used only to send you the summary report and will not be linked to your survey responses. Your contact information will be stored securely and deleted after the report has been sent.
